PARTENZA: Area pic-nic di Champlong, Verrayes (Aosta) (1632 m).
Da Nus si segue la strada statale in direzione Chambave. Poco prima dell'abitato si prende la strada regionale in direzione di Verrayes e del colle Saint Pantaleon. Superato Verrayes ed i villaggi di Charrere e Grand Villa, poco prima della riserva naturale di Lozon, si svolta in direzione dell'area pic-nic di Champlong dove si parcheggia l'auto.

PERCORSO: Lasciata l'auto nel piazzale (waypoint CHAMP), proseguire lungo la strada sterrata che dopo un ampio tornante a destra porta al Col de Bornes. Raggiunto in colle (waypoint BORNES) si prende il sentiero sulla sinistra che entra nel bosco di conifere e sale in direzione della Becca d'Aver.Usciti dal bosco si prosegue verso l'alpe Aver ed una piccola cappella intitolata alla Madonna delle Nevi. Una volta raggiunta la cresta erbosa che separa la valle principale dal vallone di Saint Barthelemy, seguendo il sentiero in direzione Nord Est si raggiunge rapidamente la vetta (2:00h, 2469m).Lasciando la vetta e percorrendo a ritroso tutta la cresta in direzione Sud Ovest si puo' raggiungere in 30 minuti la Punta Longhede.Per il ritorno e' possibile prendere un sentiero pianeggiante a mezza costa che torna all'alpe d'Aver. Per accorciare la discesa, una volta rientrati nel bosco, e' anche possibile prendere il sentiero che scende in direzione di Grand Villa (waypoint XVIBOR) e, dopo aver incrociato la strada poderale del Col de Bornes, scendere lungo le tracce e la strada poderale che riportano a Champlong.
NOTE: Dalla vetta della Becca d'Aver si gode di una magnifica vista sulla valle di Saint Barthelemy con la Becca di Luseney e sulla Valtournanche dominata dal Cervino.
L'intera cresta che collega la Becca d'Aver con la Punta Longhede e' una splendida balconata con vista sulla valle centrale e su vette quali la Punta Tersiva e il Monte Emilius.

From Aosta follow state road toward Chambave. Slightly before the village, take the reginal road towards Verrayes and Saint Pantaleon pass. After passing Verrayes, Charrere and Grand Villa villages, shortly before the natural reserve of Lozon, turn towards the Champlong picnic area where you'll park the car.

PATH: Leave the car in the square (waypoint CHAMP), and proceed along the country road that, after a wide turn to the right, leads to the Col de Bornes.Reaching the pass (waypoint BORNES), take the track to the left that enters the coniferous wood and climbs towards Becca d'Aver.Coming out of the wood, continue towards the Aver alpine pasture and a small chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Snow.Reaching the grassy ridge on the border between the main Aosta valley and the Saint Barthelemy one, the walkway towards North East leads you rapidly to the top (2:00h, 2469m).If you leave the peak and follow the path along the whole ridge towards South West, you can reach Longhede peak in 30 minutes.On the way back you can take the walkway that goes horizontally to the Aver alpine pasture half way up to the ridge.If you want to shorten the decent, after entering the wood, you can take the walkway that goes to Grand Villa (waypoint XVIBOR). After crossing the country road to Col de Bornes, keep going down on the paths and the country road till Champlong.
NOTES: From Becca d'Aver you enjoy a wonderful view over Saint Barthelemy valley with Luseney peak and Valtournanche valley, dominated by mount Cervino.
The whole ridge from Becca d'Aver to Longhede peak is an awesome balcony over the central Aosta valley with a superb view over peaks like Punta Tersiva and Mount Emilius.
