PARTENZA: Loc.
START: Cort, Champorcher (Aosta) (1775 m).
From Pont-Saint-Martin follow the signs to Aosta, passing through Donnas and Bards. A little bit after this village you have to turn left in Champorcher direction, passing a bridge on Dora brook. You get Hone and from there the road starts to rise with many hairpin turns. You have to pass Pont Boset village and go on till to Champorcher. A little bit after Chateau hamlet the signs direct you in a road on the right climbing up to Mont Avic Park and Dondena refuge. You have to keep on till to Cort hamlet, where the paved road ends. You may park the car and go on on foot along the path on the right, near to which there is the map of the park.
END: Voella (1307 m)
MAX ALTITUDE: 2303 m
ALTITUDE DIFFERENCE: 1000 m
LENGTH: 10.6 Km
DURATION: 5:00 h
PATH: The path starts to climb up in the wood, near to a little brook named Muffé. After about 20 minutes you get a house in the hamlet Grand Cort and a little bit later you find the Terra Rossa Pass' crossroads. Go on to the left: the landscape becomes bare, the trees are predominantly larches and their number gradually decreases, making space to pasture lands.
Attained Muffé lake, you can see Cima Piana mountain, that overtops Lago Bianco Pass (2303 m) that can be reached after an other walking hour. After the pass the descent toward Barbustel Refuge direction starts: you get at first a mountain pasture house reorganized where you must turn right and cross a field in order to get the refuge close to the Bianco lake.
The descent keeps on, following the path 5C, and gets to Cousse alpine pasture (2051 m) first and then to the Serva Damon one (1835 m). You cross over a brook and you keep on along the right side of Serva lake. You walk in a pine forest sometimes interrupted by stone fields, till to get to the base of a rock wall. The steep descent starts again and arrives to Ru Chèvre, a water channel near to Chalamy brook, from which it takes the water. A little later you get Magazzino field, where you find some signs: the path is replaced by a dirt road that after 2 km gets Voella.
NOTES: From XVII to half of XX century in Champdepraz Valley iron and copper mines have been exploited. The need to obtain a big quantity of combustible for metal casting have caused a big impoverishment of the forests in the valley, being in the last century submitted to large and frequent cuts for wood coal production: the coal areas distributed in all Champdespraz woods may be seen along path n. 5C too.
